Handmade Craft Exchange

Well, this is the 3rd time I've entered the Craftaholics Anonymous Handmade Gift Exchange. I just love what its all about and that you get to meet people from all over the world who are taking part (well, by "meet" I really mean "virtually") 

This year, I my "giftee" (aka the person that I send a gift to) was a lady in Berkshire, England. She had given me a few ideas for her gift from her Pinterest boards. It turns out that she was really interested in airplanes and loved photogaphy. There were a few key "pins" that caught my eye. Like this this and this.

She seemed to really like camera straps so I thought I would incorporate a few of the things I had seen on her Pinterest boards into a cute little camera strap. 

Super Mario Brothers Fire Flower / Ice Flower Pillow Project

Mr. Tooter is MARIO OBSESSED! We put him to bed at night and the entire time we hear all these little stories about what kind of moves Mario can do and what levels have secret bits and where you can find the Power Ups etc etc etc etc!! First thing in the morning, he will revisit the night before's convo and go back over the points he covered that night.....Lets just say, we know ALOT about Super Mario Brothers. That little italian plumber has come a long way from the 90's when I first met him! Remember this old fav?!?!

 

Anyhow, Mr. Tooter is always asking if there are any Mario crafts that I can make for him....Normally this means something extravagant like this beaut he asked me to make one night after work:

Alphabet Photography / Kids Scavender Hunt

I've read alot recently about Alphabet Photography and I've gotta say, it's really cool! I love that the letters are found anywhere and everywhere and easily spotted if you start looking for them! This Alphabet Photography site in particular really showcases the photography well and I like the "show my word" function. It can give you a lot of ideas to where the letters can be found. 

My first thought when I saw it was "wow, I've gotta do this" followed closely by "yeah, but when am I ever gonna have the time??". It's true, since Mr. Tooter was born, free time seems like a distant memory. Weekends are taken up with grocery shopping, house cleaning and keeping the little man amused without being seated in front of the TV from Friday to Sunday night. However, this was too cool an idea / project to pass up.

Recently we took Mr. Tooter on a scavenger hunt. Basically, I wrote down items in his doodle book side note: I highly recommend getting a doodle book for kids of any age - they are fantastic for supporting budding "authors" and "artists".

Anyhow, I wrote things like:

1. Fallen tree
2. Y shaped twig
3. Smooth or shiny rock 

Launch Day - Tooth Officer Pillow

Hi there. This is my first ever blog....I’m nervous and excited all at the same time. I’m not sure if anyone will read this and if they do, what their impression will be....but this has been a determination of mine for a few years now and I have to get on the horse soon, you know?

I wanted to start with writing about a little special someone in my life (not my hubby, but close) My 6 year old son, Mr. Tooter. We have recently had to discuss the presence of the “Tooth Fairy” as he’d lost his first tooth. Although, the prospect of such a girly creature coming to visit (even though she was bringing money ) wasn’t all that appealing.

As I’m sure all you parents out there can attest to, the idea of letting your child place a tooth under his / her pillow in order for the “Tooth Fairy” to have to retrieve it during the middle of the DARK night is not the greatest idea ever thought of, therefore my search for a tooth pillow began. You know the type, that wonderful idea created so that “Tooth Fairies” the world over could easily identify and retrieve their desired tooth targets. Mission Accomplished.

I love Pinterest......actually, truth be told, I’m obsessed with Pinterest. I can seriously spend hours just browsing through all the new pins without a care in the world. Unfortunately for me, I have to work full time and this SEVERELY cuts into my obsession. On this particular instance I had found myself on Pinterest looking for a “cute” but “less girly” alternative. This is the fantasticness that I had found on the mmmcrafts blog.
