When we went to NY this Easter, I got to spend some serious quality time with my God sister and her daughter. My niece is the most amazing little nugget of cuteness, you have no idea!

Anyhow, she told me that she's been singing "All of My Love" by Led Zepplin to her, since birth. If you've never heard the song, go and check it out. I love that she's passing her great musical taste along to Pia. She's gonna be a rock star when she grows up, for sure.

When we got back from visiting them, I wanted to make something special for her and knew that I wanted to incorporate the lyrics, somehow.

I have a piece of a charcoal pashmina in my fabric stash that I knew would be perfect for this. Neither Mom or daughter are overly girly but both have a beautiful soft side. I think this suited.

I found a peachy-pink embroidery thread for the wording....A little bit of cuteness. :-)

After finding a font that I liked (just using Word, nothing special) I printed it out in the size I wanted and put some carbon paper beneath the page and traced it directly on to the fabric. I love this method, its much easier than trying to freehand.

The font looks like I could have written it myself...Gives it a bit of a more handmade feel, I think.

Next thing was figuring out how I was going to present it. This was how the conversation went in my head:

I'll make it in to a pillow! But my stitching isn't that neat on the back and would never sit the way I want it to. Hmmmmm

I could frame it? Then what's the point of having the soft pashmina fabric??? geez, this is harder than I thought.

Keep it in the embroidery loop? Naw, I need this one for other projects....

Ahh, I know, stretch it across a canvas!!

And off to the bargain shop I went.

Look at this bucket of cuteness?!!?!?! As cute as it was.....It was being covered up.

This is why I bought it. Strong wooden frame. Perfect for my bestest friend.....

This staple gun is my prized possession. It actually belonged to my parents. Let me just say, that's not yesterday....

Next was the positioning and the stapling into place. Pictures are self-explanatory, really.

I tidied up the edges and folded them all in to keep it neat. Sorry, I forgot to get that photographic proof!!!

It's super personal, took very little time (in the greater scheme of things) and I'm sure it will put a smile on her face. I think; MISSION ACCOMPLISHED.

Happy Saturday everyone! I'm trying to get back in the swing of things these last few weeks. We had a great time with my cousin from Canada visiting. Tooters fell in love with her and was gutted when she left. It was so great to see them spending quality time with eachother.

Anyhow, I have been up to my eyes in craft projects recently (Christmas is right around the corner). I mentioned in a previous post that I really wanted to give it a go with a whole "Handmade Christmas" thing. Well, I've got a few projects under my belt so far, but sooooooo many more to go.

Keeping with the same homemade spirit, I thought I would dedicate my TOP 10 this month to Handmade / Homemade Gifts. As money seems to be elusive to us(and most of our friends), I thought I would make this list Handmade Gifts Under $5/£5

Its been a long time since I’ve posted anything!!

Things have been super crazy here. Work is nuts, (as usual when it gets cold), its half-term break from school for Mr. Tooter and I had an unexpected (but super cool) visitor come stay with us from back home. Which brings me to a very important “fact” about me……I don’t know if I’ve ever mentioned, but I am Canadian! (now living in Ireland)

I’ve not seen this friend for 8 years and it’s been so great to catch up on life for the last few days. Unfortunately, I’ve not been able to take any time off work but hubbers has kicked in and is entertaining until I get home. *Love him*

Since her visit was very unexpected and last minute, we had a lot of “project finishing” to do before her arrival. About a month ago, we decided to strip the downstairs bathroom (aka Theo’s bathroom) and re-do it. So much has come up time-wise and financially in the last month that we hadn’t had the opportunity to finish the project. Well, it’s amazing what you can accomplish when you know you’re having company for a week!!

So here’s how it went down…Got the call that she was coming on Thursday; this is how the bathroom looked:
