HAPPY FRIDAY EVERYONE!!
Well another week is over and the weekend is here...I am so thankful!! This week was particularly stressful. Steve's got my cold and later on in the week, Theo got it too. There is nothing worse than a 6 year old with a head cold. Not to mention a hubby with a head cold. Love the change of seasons.....grrrrrrr.
Anyhow, this past week (Even though it was stressful) has been a great one for my little blog. I've seen more pageviews this week than ever before. Which makes me very hopeful that people actually read my stuff! Thank you, I really do appreciate it.
So, what will I talk about this week? What craftiness will I share with you?? Well, I've mentioned in my Versatile, Aww Yeah post that I love to make things for people. So, that being RE-said, I thought I would share with you my most recent craft love.....Felt Bookmarks.
The wonderful girlies that I work with all really enjoy reading. One tea break they were talking about what books they were reading and what they had planned to bring with them to read on their respective holidays.
My brain started thinking of my Pinterest boards......as you do ;-)
I remembered seeing different birds and hearts and all sorts of cuteness on Pinterest. Search for felt bookmarks...you'll see what I mean!
So I hit my felt stash....
First up, something easy to start me off:
Take any shape ( I chose a little heart), double up your felt, cut 2 shapes out and "running stitch" them together and stitch in the paper clip at the bottom. Cute.Simple.Effective.
Next up, something a little bit more involved. Little bird.
I chose not to give this one any eyes. I don't really know why, I just didn't think it would look right. The recipient agreed. She loved it. This little baby has made its way alllllllll the way to Greece.
Same basic technique as the heart. Cut out the 2 shapes, stitch together. In this case, I decided to braid the thread in the middle and add the leaf tail. Seriously, I didn't use any measurements for the length and look at how well it fit her book! Its like it was meant to be ;-)
And last but not least, the most complicated of my trifecta of craftiness. Le Tour Eiffel:
My last recipient is our resident french speaker who vacay's in France often. So, I thought I would give her a little "Paris" in her bookmark. Sorry the picture is not the greatest here. The ribbon through the middle is cream satin with gold trim and the cloud has a pink stitch around it. I tried to go for a cutesy postcard type feel. Not sure if I got it in the end but she loved it and that's all that matters to me! And ps: this was my first attempt at embroidering letters, I think it turned out well!!
*I'm sure that you've noticed the difference in the pictures in this post. Unfortunately I didn't snap any pics of the birdie before giving it to Mrs. V, so I had asked if she could send me some shots. The beauties above are what I received. - I may just employ her to take all of my blog pics, I think they're beautiful!!
Well, it just goes to show that you can make people very happy with a little effort and some felt!! What will you make for someone this week?
Off to enjoy my Friday night with hubbers.....have a great one peeps xx
