Handmade Craft Exchange

Well, this is the 3rd time I've entered the Craftaholics Anonymous Handmade Gift Exchange. I just love what its all about and that you get to meet people from all over the world who are taking part (well, by "meet" I really mean "virtually")

This year, I my "giftee" (aka the person that I send a gift to) was a lady in Berkshire, England. She had given me a few ideas for her gift from her Pinterest boards. It turns out that she was really interested in airplanes and loved photogaphy. There were a few key "pins" that caught my eye. Like this this and this.

She seemed to really like camera straps so I thought I would incorporate a few of the things I had seen on her Pinterest boards into a cute little camera strap.

As I currently do not have a sewing machine, I had to sew the entire thing by hand and it took DAYS to do it!! Well, actually it took an hour a night for about 3 nights as I had about 3 or 4 other projects going on at the same time. (End of the school year projects for Mr. Tooter and his teacher gifts....posts to follow)

I wanted to make sure that the strap would hold up in high usage situations....which I hope it does.....

The base of the strap is a webbing strap belt (like the strap for a backpack). I sewed 2 loops of high quality ribbon to the ends using embroidery floss for extra hold. I had no idea what kind of camera she has, therefore I had no idea what kind of fixture / fitting the ends would need. I figured that this would be as "universal" as it comes. I used the cute little embroidered stitch paper airplane for the back of the strap that would sit at her neck.

I really hope that she likes it. I posted it to her today (the entries have to be postmarked by today).

I highly recommend signing up for the next craft exchange, its November 1st. These are terrific!!
